Mediation, as an alternative way of solving legal disputes, is a negotiation process serving the purpose of settling the conflict between parties in an extrajudicial, impartial, independent way. Within this scope, mediation is conducted by principals of confidentiality, equality and volunteerism.
Mediator gathers up the parties of a legal dispute and has them empathize with each other so that they can come up with a solution on their own. For this purpose mediator sets meetings, suggests impartial solution ideas and uses techniques which is taught in mediation educations.
Mediation is a voluntary process. The documents and information presented by parties and the solution ideas for mediation are confidential. During mediation process the parties have equal rights.
